Safety & Privacy

Cortex is strictly for users aged 18 and above.

Date of birth is required during registration.

Users who do not meet the minimum age requirement cannot create an account.

Cortex requires location access to show approximate distance and match you with people within the search distance you choose.

Your exact location is never displayed to another user.

Other users may see an approximate distance such as:

17 km away

They do not receive your:

• coordinates;
• exact address;
• live map position;
• movement history.

Your photographs are never public profile images.

Private gallery photos:

• are captured directly within Cortex;
• use the front-facing camera;
• cannot be uploaded from an existing photo gallery;
• remain private until both users agree to unlock galleries;
• cannot be sent as chat attachments.

Nobody receives one-sided photo access.

When gallery access is approved:

both users receive access at the same time.

If gallery permission ends:

both users lose access.

Cortex does not provide normal:

• download controls;
• share controls;
• forwarding controls.

Private-gallery access is designed to remain within the Cortex experience.

Where technically possible, Cortex may also apply screenshot deterrence, screen-capture controls or private watermarks.

However, no application can guarantee that another person cannot photograph a screen using a second device.

Users should therefore always treat shared private images with appropriate care.

Mutual gallery access does not automatically allow communication.

After viewing photographs, both people must independently agree before chat opens.

If one person declines, chat does not begin.

Personal contact information remains private during normal conversation.

Phone numbers and email addresses are exchanged through a controlled mutual-consent process.

Both users know exactly what information will be revealed before approving the exchange.

Declining a request for phone or email exchange does not end the connection.

The information simply remains private, and conversation may continue normally.

Either person may leave a Cortex connection at any time.

Unmatching does not require the other person's approval.

When a user selects Unmatch:

• the connection ends;
• chat closes;
• gallery access is revoked;
• both users become independent again.

Users may block another person at any time.

Blocking:

• terminates the connection;
• closes chat;
• revokes gallery access;
• prevents future Cortex matching between the two accounts.

Users may report behaviour including:

• Fake identity
• Harassment
• Threatening behaviour
• Scam or fraud
• Suspected underage use
• Impersonation
• Inappropriate behaviour
• Other safety concerns

Report inside the app from the match screen, or email support@cortexdating.com — anyone can report, even without an account.

Our response rule: every report is reviewed by a person within 24 hours. Threats, underage use or scams are acted on first. You'll be told the outcome (no action, warning, suspension or removal).

If someone is in immediate danger, contact the police first (Kenya: 999 or 112).

Before phone numbers or email addresses are exchanged, Cortex warns users that:

Once another person has seen your contact information, they may save it outside Cortex. Information saved externally cannot be fully recalled by the platform.

Sensitive information such as:

• exact coordinates;
• private photos;
• contact details;
• assessment answers;

should remain protected through authenticated access, appropriate encryption and restricted permissions.

Your connection may progress. Your privacy should remain controlled.
